Welcome to the home of Flavoured Coffee

Strawberry Coffee is trending, but why?

If you’ve been on social media recently you’ve probably seen the viral strawberry iced latte. This trending treat is prepared by pouring 2 shots of espresso over crushed fresh strawberries and ice. It’s the drink of the summer!

Now, there have been mixed opinions about whether strawberries and coffee go together in harmony. At Beanies, we clearly think so as we have just launched our brand new flavour: strawberries and cream!

But why are strawberries and coffee a match made in heaven? Well, apart from looking aesthetically pleasing when combined, they are both full of benefits for your body.

What are the benefits of eating strawberries?

The impact on the heart

Research from San Diego State University found that eating the bright red berries can lower blood pressure and improve heart health. Strawberries contain anthocyanins. In turn, these decrease stress and allow our arteries to relax. This also reduces the risk of a heart attack.

Support for brain function

The antioxidants in strawberries are also beneficial to your brain. Eating berries every day can lower the chance of Alzheimer’s and possibly decrease the risk of dementia. These sweet fruits can even improve cognitive function and memory!

Improve gut health

Strawberries are high fibre so are great for your gut and they function as a prebiotic. They feed helpful bacteria and improve digestion.

Helps the immune system

Fruit and vegetables have a high vitamin C content. Vitamin C is key in supporting the immune system. Chemicals in strawberries contribute to a lower risk of cancer by fighting infections and inflammation.

Increased insulin sensitivity

This low sugar fruit is great at metabolising other forms of glucose. Strawberries can also reduce sugar spikes so they’re even more beneficial for those with diabetes.

What are the benefits of drinking coffee?

Increased energy levels

Yes, the benefit of coffee that we all know and love! Some people only drink coffee for the caffeine, an afternoon pick up, a morning boost. It kicks the general nervous system into action. It blocks adenosine and increases dopamine.

Supports brain health

Believe it or not, coffee can lower the risk of Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s! Research has also found that caffeine helps prevent depression.

Protection against liver conditions

Interestingly, coffee can decrease liver stiffness. Coffee also positively affects liver disease and scar tissue.

Help for the heart

Coffee can affect blood pressure, so people should drink it in moderation. However, there have been studies that revealed that 3-4 cups of coffee a day reduced the risk of a stroke.

Enhance performance

Coffee is a performance enhancer. It boosts you energy, quickens your pace and can increase your power. It’s like magic.

Summary

So, we’ve established that coffee and strawberries have many health benefits between them, some remarkably similar.

We think that using our new Strawberries and Cream coffee to make your next strawberry latte is a good shout. There are no real berries in our coffee, but I believe that combining this fruity caffeinated flavour with the real food will make a delicious and healthy combination.
