A guide to the 75 hard, medium and soft challenge
Happy January! New year new me?
If you’ve done nothing but eat over Christmas, like most of us, then you might have set yourself a fitness-based New Year’s resolution. This may involve walking 10,000 steps a day, healthy eating, or completing weekly workouts. OR, you may have committed to a full health kick and taken on the 75 hard, medium or soft challenge!
Andy Frisella introduced the 75 Hard in 2019 and it has since became a trend. The physical daily challenge includes two workouts of 45 minutes each. You must also drink a gallon of water and follow a diet plan that has no alcohol or cheat meals. The daily mental improvement part of this challenge requires you to read 10 pages of a self-help book and to take daily progress photos.
However, in 2021, Stephen Gallagher adapted the 75 Hard into a more flexible, 75 soft challenge. This challenge involved a daily 45-minute workout, 10,000 steps, 3 litres of water and 10 pages of any book. It promoted healthy eating, lower alcohol consumption and a progress picture on day 1 and day 75.
Recently, social media creators have adapted these two challenges. They have made them more personal and easier to fit your lifestyle. For example, influencers have introduced a 75 medium challenge that combines both the hard and the soft. These challenges allow for cheat meals, alcohol on special occasions and rest days to make them more achievable.
People have started making their own 75 challenges. These challenges help them add healthy habits to their daily routine. This can improve their overall health and fitness levels.
